Perfect for light DIY and OK for mid DIY. Only the down side is the rpm seems to be low compared to my old Ryobi and this affects when you drill. My old drill/driver batteries died and I found this cheaper than a new battery. This works great and I even like the little magnet bit holder at the bottom of the grip. Although I was able to build metal stud walls with this.
Just a good drill with a sturdy case, two batteries and a charger. For us do-it-yourselfers it's a great deal. I'm extremely pleased with my new Ryobi drill. My last drill was a Ryobi and it only died because my batteries finally wouldn't hold a charge and to get new batteries cost more than this package.
3 weeks. It sucks, and isn't typical of the quality I came to expect with this brand. 3 months, fine, batts lose charge, everyone knows. If you buy one of these, you'll probably get the model that I returned.
Period. I went through a few batts and chargers, and finally, had to buy their new versions, because they didn't make batteries that would fit the older models. If this was a store-brand, it would probably get 3-4 stars. I had two fully charged batteries sitting in the case for about three weeks, and I couldn't drill through a single piece of thin (2-3mm) metal going through both batts. I'm a home, fixer upper, not a contractor or certified anything. Well, the newer batteries completely suck. Totally unacceptable. Not good enough.
Since it's ryobi, and due to the cost, it get's two stars. I had an older Ryobi drill that I LOVED and used on everything for many years. You CANNOT charge a batt, and stick it in the box, and expect it to get you through a job a few weeks later. Due to this, I have to keep a batt in the charger at all times.
I was going to buy a new battery for my old 9.6V drill and when I found out I could buy a 12 volt complete system for less money than a new 9.6V costs I was blown away. Can't beat the price and I am impressed with the quality. What a deal. This is a great little drill with all the power I needed for most of the jobs I do in my shop and home.
My only regret that at this price I didn't buy 2. 12v is more than adequate for light-medium household repair.
